This lookout offers a breathtaking view of Saint-Pacôme and Rivière-Ouelle. From here, on a clear day, you can see some twenty bell towers and admire the Côte-du-Sud, Kamouraska and, on the north shore of the river, a landscape stretching from Cap Tourmente to Hautes-Bergeronnes.
In 1849, the first cross, built in just over a week, was erected here at the request of the parish priest of Notre-Dame-de-Liesse, who hoped to put an end to an epidemic of cholera and typhus. One hundred years later, parishioners dreamed of an illuminated metal cross. The parish priest asked Gérard Morisset of the Musée de la province de Québec for plans. Joseph Santerre and François Chamberland designed the cross, which was inaugurated on the occasion of Saint-Pacôme’s centenary in July 1951.
