Born in Austria, Gernot Nebel has lived in Quebec since 1956 and in Saint-Germain-de-Kamouraska since 1997. He seeks poetry in all things, remaining attentive to invitations made by matter, gestures or transforming surfaces. He is inspired by the traces of time, those left on bark, rocks, dilapidated walls or rusty sheet metal. He likes to give chance the climate it needs to manifest itself. His abstract paintings allow him to tell a part of the hidden story of each being, like a mirror reflecting a part of oneself.
