Saint-Pascal

Begin your visit by heading to the panoramic signature of Saint-Pascal: The Cabouron Hiking Trail! The Père Coton Mountain is one of Kamouraska’s most famous rock formation, offering an exceptional 360-degree view overlooking the foot of the mountain range, the shoreline and all of Saint-Pascal. As the second largest municipality of Kamouraska, Saint-Pascal thrived in the middle of the 19th century thanks to the arrival of the Grand Tronc Railroad, marking a shift in commercial trade routes from the shore to further inland. Merchants and shop owners settled in the region in droves as it became the hub of rural industries such as tanneries, sawmills, carding mills and fulling mills as well as the home of the Normand Company, a farm equipment manufacturer still in operation today. Early in the 20th century, Saint-Pascal was the site of an innovative education project when the first home economics teacher training school was built. At the time, the town is also a leading figure in the Quebec leather industry and rapidly became the leading economic centre in the area. Two vast residential sectors also take form around the church and the train station at the time. These buildings as well as many posh houses with varied architectural components are still very well preserved today. Over the years, Saint-Pascal has won many awards and distinctions for its efforts to heritage preservation and the revitalization of its town centre. Today, with over 150 businesses and shops, the municipality remains an important economic pole for Kamouraska, namely in terms of government administrative services. The famous Sept-Chutes Park and steep trails, the massive archangel wood sculptures of its church, the heritage circuit, bike path and Route des Moulins will assuredly fill your stay with beauty.
